RALEIGH, N.C. — A man who was injured in a single-vehicle wreck and discovered hours later by passers-by has been charged with reckless driving, authorities said Sunday.

Ryan Truelove, 21, remained hospitalized in fair condition at WakeMed on Sunday following the accident.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, passers-by called 911 about 7 a.m. Saturday after discovering the overturned car on Durant Road near Brassfield Road in Raleigh. Truelove had been ejected from the car and badly hurt, but he dragged himself back inside the vehicle to stay warm overnight.

The good Samaritans found Truelove alone in the car and wrapped him in their coats or blankets until help arrived.

Troopers said they don't know what happened because Truelove doesn't remember exactly when or how the car overturned. Investigators have spoken with family members, who have not been able to shed light on the accident either.

Truelove declined to be interviewed Sunday.
