Man faces long list of charges in Moore County shooting
VASS, N.C. — Moore County Sheriff Neil Godfrey announced Monday that a 23-year-old has been charged in a shooting that happened Thursday in Vass.

Zachary Randall Gautier, of Vass, is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one count of felony discharging a weapon into occupied property, one count of felony assault on a law enforcement officer causing physical injury, one count of misdemeanor going armed to the terror of the public, one count of misdemeanor simple assault and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, the sheriff's office received a call at approximately 7:50 p.m. from a caller who reported that a subject covered in blood was walking close to an area where an occupied vehicle had been shot several times on Wright Road in Vass. Sheriff's deputies quickly found the victim and assisted them in receiving medical assistance.

Following the incident, Sheriff’s deputies arrested Gautier from 159 Jolinda Road in Vass.

Gautier was placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. His first court appearance has been set for April 26 in Moore County District Court in Carthage.

Gautier was also charged with probation violation warrants form Harnett County and received an additional $5,000 secured bond.
