Man Drowns in Tar River Reservoir
A man fishing on the Tar River Reservoir drowned late Friday afternoon, police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — An accidental drowning claimed the life of a man fishing on the Tar River Reservoir late Friday afternoon.
Garrick Sheffield, 35, was fishing on the reservoir south of Rocky Mount, police said.
Sheffield called for assistance after his boat broke down, police said. While waiting for help, Sheffield got in the water to go swimming and never resurfaced, authorities said.
Rocky Mount police said they have not found his body.
