DURHAM, N.C. — A disgruntled customer unsatisfied with repairs made to his vehicle used a golf club in an attempt to beat a refund out of the mechanic on Thursday, Durham police said.

Rucan Huang, 52, of Cary, is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. He remained in the Durham County jail Thursday under a $250,000 bond.

Huang is accused of hitting the victim with a golf club and taking his car keys, police said. Huang initially found the mechanic through Craigslist, then used the website to lure him to a business on Davis Drive in Research Triangle Park, where the assault took place, police said.

“This was witnessed by numerous employees at the location as well as recorded on video,” police said in a statement. “The victim sustained cuts and bruises and was treated by EMS.”
