GARNER, N.C. — A 47-year Garner man died late Monday after he wrecked his car while traveling west on Page Road near N.C. Highway 50 in Johnston County, State Highway Patrol officials said.

Troopers said John Patrick Carter was traveling approximately 30 miles an hour over the posted speed limit when he lost control of his car in a curve just after 9 p.m.

Carter's car overturned twice and came to rest against a patch of trees following the wreck.

Carter, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car, troopers said. He died at the scene.

Carter lived at a home on Cattle Farm Drive, less than a mile from where the wreck happened. No other information was released.
