COATS, N.C. — A man died Monday after falling from a cell tower in Harnett County, authorities said.

John Dailey, 49, of Silvester, Ga., and another man were working on the tower around 5:30 p.m. when Dailey lost his balance and fell about 200 feet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The men are employees of Transmit PM LLC, of Duxbury, Mass.

Harnesses were found near the tower, in the 1200 block of N.C. Highway 55 near Coats, but investigators haven't said whether Dailey was using one.
