ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police arrested a man who they say tried to run over an officer in the parking lot of a nightclub early Wednesday.

Police said that Lorenza Moody Jr., 26, yelled that he was going to run over an officer directing traffic as Club Rain, 349 Falls Road, closed around 2 a.m.

Moody steered toward the officer and accelerated toward him, but he managed to jump out of the way, police said.
