Chaz Ivery, charged with stealing lottery tickets
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A convenience store cashier has been charged with stealing more than $8,000 in lottery tickets, authorities said Friday.

Chaz Carel Ivery, 23, of 6114 Pine Court in Fayetteville, was charged with embezzlement and obtaining property by false pretense.

Thirty-three packs of lottery tickets were taken from The Pantry at 1571 McArthur Road, authorities said. Someone turned the security camera off in the store at the time of the theft, authorities said.

Ivery was later seen by witnesses and captured on videotape cashing some of the lottery tickets at other Pantry stores, authorities said. He collected $3,740 in prize money between May 1 and May 27, authorities said.
