RAEFORD, N.C. — A Hope Mills man has been arrested on kidnapping charges in the attempted abduction of his former boss, authorities said.

Brandon Brooks was upset over getting fired and drove to the man's home Tuesday morning with a friend, authorities said. Brooks and his friend, Christopher Ray Britt, ordered the man at gunpoint to leave his home, and they tried to force him into a vehicle before he fought them off and they left, authorities said.

Brooks was fired on Jan. 30 from his job as a quality-control worker at Mountaire Farms, a chicken farm near Lumber Bridge in Robeson County, authorities said.

Brooks, 21, of 4419 Pensacola Drive, and Britt, 20, of 2807 Covington Farm Road in Shannon, were each charged with first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, conspiracy and aiding and abetting. Both men were being held in the Hoke County Jail on $90,000 secured bonds.
