Posted — UpdatedDetective Doug Pilgreen said that the Halifax County Sheriff's Office has received three complaints from customers of Walter Harvey Jr., 50.
Two victims said they paid in advance for Harvey to work on their vehicles last year, but he never did the work, Pilgreen said. A third victim said that in 2005, he turned his truck over to Green and paid in advance for some work, but Green never returned the truck.
Harvey was arrested Wednesday on seven counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. He was placed in the Halifax County Jail under a $40,000 bond. His first court appearance was set for July 21.
Harvey was convicted of obtaining property by false pretenses and sentenced to probation on May 19, 2009, according to state Department of Correction records. He served a 3-year prison sentence in the early 1990s after being convicted of selling drugs.
