DURHAM, N.C. — A local man wanted on child abuse charges was arrested Monday morning in New York, police said.

Shaun Marquis Tapp, 24, of James Street, was charged in March with one count of felony child abuse inflicting serious injury and one count of misdemeanor child abuse.

Durham police were contacted on Feb. 28 after a 2-year-old Durham boy was admitted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for medical treatment. The child had a broken pelvis, a large burn on his buttocks and other injuries.

Investigators also discovered that the toddler and his 5-year-old brother were both malnourished.

Tapp, whose photo was shown on a recent episode of "N.C. Wanted" on Fox50, was arrested Monday in Mount Vernon, N.Y., by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force.

"N.C. Wanted" can be seen at 10:30 p.m. Saturdays on Fox50.
