RALEIGH, N.C. — A Holly Springs man is charged with assaulting a woman and directing a profanity-laden political tirade at her, according to an arrest warrant.

Regan Michael Stachler, 33, of 404 Cottonwide Lane, was charged with assault on a female and disorderly conduct by abusive language or gesture. The incident occurred in Raleigh on Saturday.

The warrant states that Stachler headbutted the woman in the forehead and pulled her hair.

It also states that he created a public disturbance by using "abusive language which is intended to ... provoke violent reaction." Investigators quote him in the warrant as calling the woman "a right-wing pig" and screaming profanity.

Stachler was placed in the Wake County jail under a $2,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Sept. 27.
