RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have charged a man in connection with a bank robbery that happened Monday afternoon.

Sean Elliot Whitaker, 42, was arrested Tuesday morning on a charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Police say a crime tip concerning his whereabouts led them to a motel on Glenwood Avenue, where Whitaker was taken into custody.

Investigators say he robbed the Wells Fargo branch at 3500 W. Millbrook Road shortly after 12:30 p.m. Although police say he never showed a weapon, he implied in a note to a teller that he had one.
