Man charged in Durham drive-by shooting

Durham police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with a drive-by shooting that injured a 52-year-old Charlotte woman.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with a drive-by shooting that injured a 52-year-old Charlotte woman.

Police said that Evaristo Deras-Martinez fired gunshots from a passing a vehicle into a car parked outside the One Hop convenience store at 2021 Guess Road late May 21.

The woman, who was in the back seat, was shot in the neck but survived. Another woman in the car wasn't injured.

Deras-Martinez, 24, of Hillcrest Drive, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm within city limits. He was placed in the Durham County jail and denied bond.
