Man arrested in Durham parking lot shooting death
A 19-year-old man with a history of assault convictions faces charges in connection with the Monday night shooting death of a man in a Durham parking lot, police said Tuesday.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call in the 6400 block of Fayetteville Road at 10:21 p.m., and they found that Carl Lewis Powell, 21, of Danube Lane, had been shot several times, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Martin Dee Wayne Evans, 19, of Brookhollow Road in Efland, was charged with first-degree murder. He also faces charges of breaking and entering and second-degree trespassing in an unrelated case.
Evans was given probation for 2009 misdemeanor convictions for assault inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon and simple assault, according to state Department of Correction records.
He went to jail for three months in 2010 after his probation was revoked and he was convicted of larceny and second-degree trespassing.
