Man arrested after chase from Raleigh to Clayton

Raleigh police said they arrested a man who led them on a high-speed chase through two counties early Thursday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police said they arrested a man who led them on a high-speed chase through two counties early Thursday.

Police said the man tried to run over an officer on Interstate 440 in Raleigh around 3 a.m. The details of that incident haven't been released.

Raleigh police pursued the driver and were joined in the chase by Wake County sheriff's deputies and Clayton police. The chase reached speeds of 90 mph.

The 30-minute chase ended when the suspect drove over stop sticks on Main Street in Clayton, police said. The suspect was arrested, and no one was injured.

The identity of the suspect and any charges he faces haven't been released.

Police said they aren't sure why he tried to run over an officer and fled in the first place.
