Man accused of stealing $1 worth of candy

A Roseboro man accused of stealing $1 worth of candy from a convenience store faces a number of charges.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Roseboro man accused of stealing $1 worth of candy from a convenience store faces a number of charges in connection with the allegations.

Sampson County deputies arrested Charles Ennis Strickland, 56, of 1561 Elizabethtown Highway, Sunday evening on charges of resisting arrest, obstructing and delaying justice and larceny after he allegedly walked into the Minuteman Food Mart, stole 10 peppermint candies and ran.

Deputies found him about 10 minutes later at another convenience store.

Strickland was released from the Sampson County jail on a $500 bond. His trial date is set for Aug. 25.
