WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A Wake Forest man is accused of trying to get another man to kill a woman with whom he used to live, according to an arrest warrant.

The warrant says that Kevin Branch, 46, of Raleigh, solicited John Thomas Streat to murder Michelle Magdalene Morgan-Lopez.

Morgan-Lopez said that Branch hadn't lived with her for over a year and was in jail awaiting trial for assaulting her when he allegedly conceived of the plot. Streat told authorities what Branch was planning, she said.

Branch was charged with solicitation to commit felony first-degree murder. He was being held in the Wake County Jail under a $550,000 bond.

State Department of Correction records show that Branch was convicted twice of assault on a female and violating a protective order in 2008 in Wake County. He spent nearly 7 months in prison after his probation was revoked.
