Man, 21, wrecks on I-40 in Cary

Troopers say a driver was going too fast in the rain when he wrecked on Interstate 40 near Harrison Avenue early Wednesday.

CARY, N.C. — Troopers say a driver was going too fast in the rain when he wrecked on Interstate 40 near Harrison Avenue early Wednesday.

Matthew Stevenson, 21, hydroplaned, lost control of his car, drove off the road and overturned around 1 a.m., authorities said. He was taken to Rex Hospital as a precaution.

Stevenson was cited for exceeding a safe speed for conditions, troopers said.
