Magistrate Charged With DWI Resigns

An Orange County magistrate who was charged with drunken driving Saturday has resigned, authorities said.

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — An Orange County magistrate who was charged with drunken driving Saturday has resigned, authorities said.

Jennifer Allen Hay, 44, was pulled over by Chapel Hill police on Hillsborough Street after she was seen driving on the wrong side of the road. Her blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.09, which is slightly above the legal limit of intoxication in North Carolina.

Hay was charged with driving while impaired, driving left of center and failure to change the address on drivers license within 60 days, police said.
