I featured Laura Hertzfeld Katz, a Cary mom of two, a couple of months ago.

After a friend's young daughter, who needed glasses, complained that there were no bespectacled princesses, Katz got to work. She wrote "The Princess Who Wore Glasses," telling the story of Princess Liana, who needs glasses.
Read my earlier post about the book here. Katz's book, which is now available through Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble, is on Go Ask Mom's Made by Mom Gift Guide.

"I felt compelled to make a princess come alive who wore glasses so I could help little girls feel more confident in that process," she told me.

Katz tells me that the book has been getting great reviews from mom blogs across the country. She's been sponsoring interactive events on Facebook where she's been able to answer questions about girls' self-confidence and wearing glasses. The book, she tells me, has been featured in eye care magazines, parenting magazines, eye care centers and schools.

And it recently received high marks from the Midwest Book Review.

"The Princess Who Wore Glasses" reveals so many good things about having glasses to see the world," wrote the reviewer.

I agree! Congratulations to Laura! For more about the book, go to Katz's website.
Go Ask Mom is featuring a dozen local moms as part of our Made by Mom Gift Guide. Check back on Friday for our next featured mom!
