While that may be the case for a lot of people, that’s not the case here. I’m one of those wives who is fortunate to have in-laws I truly enjoy! We get along incredibly well. They’re considerate, compassionate and very loving. They’re making the move from Virginia to be closer to us. OK, closer to the grandkids and then us.
When I found out they were coming down, I was thrilled for two reasons. Can you say date night? But that’s secondary.
The most important thing is having family close. I didn’t think about it that much before, but now that I have kids, I realize it’s vital. I want my children to grow up knowing their grandparents well. I want them to know stories about their childhood and their adult life. I didn’t really get that opportunity and I regret it. Kids can learn so much from their grandparents. I’m very excited about this new chapter.
Now, if I can just get my parents to move from Missouri …
