Lynda Loveland: Countdown to kindergarten
Next year, my baby heads off to pre-first grade. I don't know how I feel about this.
Posted — UpdatedTwo down, one to go.
My husband and I have been thinking for the last couple of years, "$$$$$$, oh the extra money we’ll have when we have no kids in daycare!" But now it’s getting closer and I’m getting cold feet. Not like I have a choice….
My four-year-old, Carys, is a clinger. She hangs on to me like a dryer sheet hangs on to a fuzzy towel just pulled from the dryer. This child wants to be carried everywhere. She wants to sit on my lap the second I sit down. And she wants to sit next to me every single dinner, which doesn’t sit well with the other two.
You might think that makes me feel sorta smothered. But it doesn’t. I had my kids pretty close together. For about six years, I was either pregnant or nursing. I never really got to fully enjoy my first two. I hate that. Maybe that’s why I’m loving the attention from my baby.
She’s getting so big that when I hold her, she practically envelops me. She wraps her arms and legs around me, buries her face in my neck and fills me full of love and goodness. I can’t get enough of it.
Do they make Baby Bjorns for 43 pound 4 year olds?
