LUMBERTON, N.C. — A Lumberton store owner shot at two men who were robbing the store Thursday evening, killing one, police said.

Two men went into Westside Seafood and Market, at 309 W. 5th St., shortly after 5 p.m., pulled a handgun on the two employees inside and demanded money, police said. The store owner, who was in another room, confronted the robbers and shot at them twice, police said.

One of the men, identified as Brandon Eddie Wright, collapsed in the parking lot and died, police said. The second man fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police arrived at the store to find the owner holding two people at gunpoint inside. Investigators were questioning them Thursday to determine if they were involved in the robbery.

Investigators also were trying to identify the second robber.
