Lumberton card game ends in fatal stabbing

A Lumberton man has been charged with stabbing another man to death during a weekend card game, authorities said Tuesday.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — A Lumberton man has been charged with stabbing another man to death during a weekend card game, authorities said Tuesday.

James Haggans, 43, is charged with the second-degree murder and was being held in the Robeson County jail under a $50,000 bond.

Authorities said Haggans fatally stabbed Derek Loney, 44, on Saturday during a fight over a card game near Loney's home on Alamac Village Drive.
