Hey Joey congrats man. This is basically what we talked about a few weeks ago and here you are. 12 12 wins later. Uh You got the captain that you wanted. You got the A. C. C. Championship. Um Pretty good decision to come back for your senior year I would say I'm thinking so I was pretty good right now. Um Really proud of these guys. Um And that's right. We did talk about this. I said we were gonna be a dangerous team coming in this torment and uh we won the damn thing. So Casey hints. Hi Joey, congratulations on the win. I believe we heard you got also the tournament M. V. P. As well. Um Kind of bouncing off JBs. Question there. I know you talked at length about this yesterday but just you know coming back what does it mean for you? You know having the year you had to be recognized as the most valuable player in this tournament. Um It's really special. I'm really proud of this team. You know when you're 10 and 17 in the A. C. C. And you're got a 500 overall conference record. Um you go and sweep two series and uh then you take care of business like this and they see tournaments it's really special. Um And personally I mean anytime you've been on yourself um you know and it pays off it's definitely a good feeling. So proud of this group proudly coaches proud of myself definitely J. P. R. To did you really congrats on the way that I was going to ask you about coming back for this year as well. But since it's been asked I'll kick it over to wanted to ask you about cooper stinson and his performance today and the way he's really just able to turn up when you guys really needed them today. Um Yeah jake. I think we actually spoke after the U. N. C. Series. Um And you said you know what's the vibe of the team right now? And I said you know it's never good when you lose to arrival like that you're in the position we are in the A. C. C. So for cooper to step up like that today. Um You know coach always says you never know what kind of ball game we're gonna play but to play 11 nothing ballgame against an offense like NC State um in the championship. I mean it's it's a credit to our pitching staff coach. Gordon? Uh You know and Cooper gave us just unreal start in a big time moment. So I told him 100 times after the game I was proud of them. Um It's true. So it's awesome for Cooper. Mhm. We're fried line. Yeah 12 games ago. Was there a light switch moment that kind of sparked this or is it something that kind of happened a little bit more gradually? Yeah. Uh You know I wish I could say there was one moment um you know along the well on this season that things kind of turned on for us. But it's just the belief um you know the inner belief that we had amongst ourselves as a team. Um And the belief from the coaches all along that eventually if we kept crying and things would work out for us. So we've been bought in since the jump and you know this is the beginning of we're still making a run, we've still got N. C. Double a tormented play. So. And one quick follow up the softball team last week one the A. C. C. Championship. Did you get any encouragement from them or talk to them after that? Uh Yeah I mean they were I saw a lot of the girls here supporting us today and over this whole tournament as a whole. So you know for a school like Duke which is stereotypically um you know not one championships especially in the A. C. C. Um It's awesome for the softball program in our program to to win one together in the same year. It's really special. Thank you And congratulations. Thanks Jim Sumner. I enjoy congratulations. I know if it's occurred to you yet but you don't have to worry about what the N. C. A. Selection committee is going to do. You got the automatic bid? Oh it's a good feeling jim. Yeah. You've already talked about cooper but just to talk about the pitching staff in general. 44 days, four outstanding performances by your starters. Four days of lights out pitching by your bullpen when Duke was giving up 15 18 20 runs a game. Your says, could you possibly have imagined? Let's just talk about the way you, because she has been able to turn this around. Yeah. I mean losing uh coach blake um at the being this year and with everything going on with Covid, um you know, that puts coach Gordon in a really tough spot, A great spot in a well deserved spot, but a tough spot. Um and you know, I'm really proud of him. I think he's handled everything incredibly well. Um and he's coached the hell out of really talented group of pictures as you saw this week. I mean, jimmy loper giving us really great innings when we need him. Marcus closing things out luke fox yesterday. I can't believe he's a freshman, but just as a whole. I mean, that's top to bottom of really good pitching staff. Um And they're led by a really good pitching coach and coach cord. So let me ask you if I may about the fly ball to center field that could have tied the game that didn't, what did you see? Did you see the state runner leave early? Because you got I mean you did everything right You didn't concede that it was a run. You got your time to catch, you got rid of the ball quick. You made a strike. What were you saying out there in center field? Yeah I heard R. J. Just say you know shoot four and I knew that was gonna be the play once I saw the ball go in the air but I just tried to get behind it, get it out quick and get it online with him plate. Um Yeah I don't know I didn't know that if he tripped or if he went too early or something but I ended up working out for us so uh yeah. All right thank you, Joey. Hi, everyone. Meteorologist Anthony Baglione here in the Wral Severe Weather Center. Let's talk about our forecast as we head into the upcoming week. As we head past this weekend, we have a couple of things there, what we're tracking as far as sunshine returning. So it's been definitely kind of a cloudy weekend for most of us on the whole. Should be a very pleasant start to the week though. Some sunshine getting through warmer temperatures, nineties by the time we get into our Thursday and then a holiday weekend, rain chances very early starting on, let's say Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We're just tracking the potential for some rain heading into the holiday weekend. I'll talk about that here in just a second. Otherwise, let's talk about what we're looking at here. Future cast wise, there could be a spotty Sprinkle as we get into tonight for the most part though. Uh, just about everyone's quiet. Something to keep in mind though. There could be some fog out there for your Monday morning commute. We should start off with a little bit of fog. We'll start off with partly cloudy skies and really keep a mix of sun and clouds through the majority of the day. It'll be dry though to start the week and actually a pretty good day. If you want to just enjoy out on the patio or something, it should be fine. Maybe firing up the grill tomorrow night. Sounds kind of good. We go to 80 degrees for a high temperature tomorrow. 76 at seven o'clock. And then we start to see a warm up once again. 84 on Tuesday, 88 on Wednesday, we should hit 91 by the time we get to our Thursday 86 on Friday. And I know a lot of times when that heat kind of comes back into the forecast that begs the question, is it gonna feel gross as you walk outside? I really don't think it will the next couple of days it does get back in the humid kind of category though for us Thursday, Friday, we're not quite too tropical where we could be during the summertime months. But I think for our Monday, Tuesday, even into Wednesday, it should feel fine as you're headed out. Just a little bit of humidity. There's what we're looking at here the next seven days. 80 on our Monday, 84 on Tuesday, we go to 88 Wednesday 91 Thursday. You see those rain chances starting to come in there. Thursday, Thursday night, a stray shower or a thunderstorm. The best chances at the this point look to come in Friday night, Saturday during the morning, we may get a break. Saturday afternoon, Sunday afternoon doesn't look like total drenching conditions, but just enough where if you're traveling, you may want to keep an eye on the forecast here with a couple of chances of showers and storms.
