Longtime Wake commissioner not seeking re-election

Commissioner Betty Lou Ward said Monday that she won't run for re-election when her term expires at the end of 2016.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Commissioner Betty Lou Ward said Monday that she won't run for re-election when her term expires at the end of 2016.

Ward has served on the Wake County Board of Commissioners for 27 years, and she said it’s time to step aside for someone younger.
