RALEIGH, N.C. — A contractor mistake confused drivers along Interstate 440 Thursday morning.

At I-440 at Jones Franklin Road in Raleigh, drivers saw lane closure signs that were leftover from overnight construction for traffic in the opposite direction.

The contractor was supposed to fold down the signs, but did not, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

DOT officials say the signs are now out of sight.
