Surf City

This beach town is fairly isolated and peaceful and has a strong military presence. It's WRAL producer Carol Watson's favorite beach.

Bald Head Island

This secluded island bans most vehicles; only golf carts are allowed. It's a great place for bike riding and has a strong environmental flavor. It's WRAl meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner's favorite beach.

Kill Devil Hills

This Outer Banks town made history when the Wright brothers made the first manned flight here. The town also boasts nice beaches, good restaurants and a family atmosphere. It was the first beach that WRAL anchor Kelcey Carlson visited and remains her favorite.

Wrightsville Beach

This quaint community is warm, welcoming and relaxed and offers easy access to the beach. It was the first North Carolina beach that WRAL anchor Michelle Marsh visited.

Atlantic Beach

This quiet, family-oriented beach draws an older crowd. It is close to Cape Lookout and is WRAL traffic reporter Brian Shrader's favorite beach.
