This southern Robeson County town bears the name of a Ford model made from 1978 to 1983 that succeeded the Maverick. The town's original name was Ashpole, and it was once a thriving tobacco market.
The Cabarrus County seat has the same name as a 1978-83 AMC subcompact model. The town plays hosts to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and a large wind tunnel.
This southern Ashe County town shares a name with a popular Cadillac model. The town lies in Christmas tree country and is near a cheese factory.
This western Surry County town briefly had the same name as the Lincoln model now called the MKZ. The town is near the scenic Mitchell River and Andy Griffith's hometown.
