Raymond Felton

Posted Updated

I am no fan of the NBA but I am a big fan of Raymond Felton. The Charlotte Bobcat guard and former UNC star stopped by our studios this week. We had a nice chat. Lynda asked him what were the first three things he bought with his NBA money. He said a house and car for his parents in South Carolina and an SUV for himself.

Raymond is still very much the Carolina fan and has high hopes for the 2007-2008 edition of the Tar Heels. He thinks they could go all the way and win a national championship even without Brandan Wright who is turning pro after his freshman season. Raymond is very impressed with point guard Ty Lawson whose game is very similar to his and shooting guard Wayne Ellington.

Raymond enjoys his NBA lifestyle but admits it can be a grind with all of the travel and fatigue. He seems to be well grounded and is quite polite and approachable. He is an optimistic man. He predicts the Bobcats will make the NBA playoffs next season. He says they would have made it this season had it not been for a rash of injuries.

I wish Raymond well in the professional ranks even though I can't really get excited about the NBA. My passion is college hoops. My interest in the NBA faded with Michael Jordan's final retirement.
