Academics are supplemented by a variety of programs including athletics, fine arts, agricultural education, a strong mentoring program and other extracurricular activities.

Most residents of Hillsborough and northern Orange County attend Orange County Schools, which are in close proximity to several major universities and two-year colleges. The district is comprised of 10 schools that serve more than 6,000 students at six elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools, one of which—Cedar Ridge High School—offers an International Baccalaureate Diploma. The district also is in the process of constructing a third middle school that is scheduled to open in the fall of 2006.
