Lejeune Marine killed in Afghanistan
A Camp Lejeune-based Marine was killed in Afghanistan Thursday, the U.S. Department of Defense announced late Friday.
Posted — UpdatedCAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — A Camp Lejeune-based Marine was killed in Afghanistan Thursday, the U.S. Department of Defense announced late Friday.
Lance Cpl. Richard R. Penny, 21, of Fayetteville, Ark., died while support combat operations in the Helmand province, the military said.
Penny was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
