Eat donuts, go running and help the North Carolina Children's Hospital - all in one morning.

Registration is now open for the  2013 Krispy Kreme Challenge, scheduled for Feb. 9.
The annual event began in 2004 as a dare between a few North Carolina State University undergrads. Run from the campus bell tower to the Krispy Kreme and eat a dozen donuts, then run back. Sophomore Ben Gaddy was the first winner with a time of 34 minutes and 27 seconds.
It has only grown from there. Even making it onto Sports Illustrated’s “102 More Things You Gotta Do Before You Graduate.”

You can race alone or in teams. Many race in costume, which mean great photos!

Racers often come in costume to the Krispy Kreme Challenge. The goal is to run about 2.5 miles to Krispy Kreme, eat a dozen donuts and run back.
There are a record 8,000 spots available this year. The race fills up quickly, so it is a good idea to register in advance.

Registration is $25 for N.C. State students and $32 for non-N.C. State students through Dec. 31. After that, registration goes up to $32 for N.C. State students and $39 for non-N.C. State students.

Last year, more than 7,700 runners registered and $127,000 was donated to NC Children's Hospital.
