RALEIGH, N.C. — Police in Knightdale are looking for the people who robbed and assaulted a 69-year-old woman in a restaurant parking lot on Sunday.

The victim was assaulted while walking from her vehicle around 1 p.m. at the Applebee's at 6609 Knightdale Blvd., her granddaughter said.

Police said someone approached her from behind, grabbed her purse and pushed her to the ground.

Police said the robbers fled the scene in an older model Ford Ranger, blue or green in color, with heavy damage to the rear.

An officer later spotted a truck matching that description and tried to pursue it, but then determined a chase was too dangerous to continue.

The woman's granddaughter said Monday that she suffered cuts, bruises and a broken arm, but she had been released from the hospital.

Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to call Knightdale Public Safety Department at 919-217-2261.
