BUTNER, N.C. — A juvenile escaped from custody at a facility in Butner Sunday afternoon, said the state Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.

Spokesman William Lassiter said the juvenile, identified as "Tracey D.," escaped from the C.A. Dillon Youth Development Center, 100 Dillon Drive, around 3 p.m. Local law enforcement has been notified.

Lassiter said there is a high degree concern for the safety of both the juvenile and the public, due to the unpredictability of juvenile behavior during an escape.

Anyone who sees Tracey D. should call their local law enforcement agency.
