Justin Roberts to play N.C. Museum of Art's summer concert series
The Grammy-nominated children's performer is scheduled July 21.
Posted — UpdatedRoberts, who has been making annual stops at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro for about a decade now, first came on the children's music scene in 1998.
Since then, he's performed on The Today Show, been featured on Nick Jr. TV and won all kinds of rave reviews from the likes of the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, People and Entertainment Weekly. His latest CD, Jungle Gym, was nominated for a Grammy.
Oh ... and I've written about him plenty too (see the box to the left for video interviews and scenes from his concerts during the last couple of years). He's a favorite in my family. Even my two-year-old knows some of his choruses by heart.
While his music is considered "kiddie rock," I'll argue that it's just as much for us parents too. His nostalgic lyrics - sometimes sweet, often hilarious - are all about the day-to-day life of families - from welcoming a new baby sister to going trick-or-treating to anxiety over a big event to even the loss of a parent.
And the music is seriously great too.
