Juror Jailed After Talking, Napping
An alternate juror and a supporter of the defendant in a Nash County murder trial were jailed for contempt of court.

The juror, James Hamilton, admitted that he spoke with Evelyn Strickland during a break in the murder trial of James Stallings. Superior Court Judge Toby Fitch called the break because Hamilton fell asleep during proceedings.
Both Hamilton and Strickland were ruled in contempt of court and taken to the Nash County jail.
Stallings is accused of killing his girlfriend, Freda Medlin, of Nashville, on Sept. 1, 2005. Her body was found in a ditch alongside a road. Passersby thought Medlin had been hit by a car, but authorities said she was shot.
