Junie B. Jones tour, Sarah Dessen slated for Quail Ridge Books visits

Quail Ridge Books & Music in Raleigh has a busy May and June coming up.

Here's what's scheduled with descriptions from Quail Ridge's wonderful children's staff:

  • 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday: For those of you with children's book ideas, the Society of Children's Writers & Illustrators Schmooze is designed for aspiring kid-lit writers and illustrators in the area. A panel of published author/illustrators will read and critique the first 250 words of a picture, chapter, middle grade or young adult book or your illustration. Entries over 250 words will be excluded, and you must include a word count and category at the top of your entry. Do not include your name.
  • 4:30 p.m., May 30: The Junie B. Jones Stupid Smelly Bus Tour makes a stop at the store. See a live theatrical performance by "Junie B. and Mr. Woo" (played by actors) followed by a meet and greet and book stamping. “Junie” will be stamping all new books purchased at the store. For ages 5 and up.
  • 7 p.m., June 14: The Fierce Reads Tour will feature four young adult authors who focus on fantasy and sci-fi. They are Anna Banks, Leigh Bardugo, Jessica Brody and Gennifer Albin. For ages 12 and up.
  • 7 p.m., June 26: New York Times best-selling author Sarah Dessen shares her new novel "The Moon and More." For ages 14 and up.
