Johnston County woman accused of posing as travel agent, taking family's money

The victims, Geoffrey and Linda Cramer, planned to book a cruise to the Bahamas in celebration of their son’s senior year of high school and his last year at home.

Investigators said Davis was a former co-worker of one of the Cramers and persuaded the couple to write checks made out directly to her, telling them they could avoid commission fees that way.

The couple became suspicious when Davis sent them a fake itinerary.

“In this case, it was just something that was prepared by the suspect and no more,” said Capt. Jeff Caldwell, Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. “This threw up a red flag to the victim in this case, requiring more to be given to them as far as confirmation numbers. And this was all that was provided. And at this point, (the victim) contacted law enforcement.”

Davis posted bond, and according to investigators, she named her aunt, who does run a travel agency, as a contact.

The Cramers’ attorney said they are now letting the criminal process run its course, but he will be seeking reimbursement, perhaps from the aunt listed in the case.
