Johnston County man charged with shooting two
Two people were shot Saturday morning during a dispute at a Johnston County home, according to the sheriff's office.
Posted — UpdatedAuthorities said that Dana Terrill Atkinson, 38, of Princeton, opened fire at several people at 105 Eddie Drive, striking two. They suffered non-life-threatening injures and were taken to WakeMed in Raleigh. Their names and an update on their conditions have not been released.
Atkinson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was placed in the Johnston County jail under a $1.1 million bond.
His 20-year-long criminal record includes convictions for trafficking cocaine and discharging a firearm into occupied property, according to state Division of Adult Correction records. He has served two prison terms totaling more than five years.
