Johnston County gets federal grant for water improvements
The Town of Clayton and Johnston County will receive a $1.5 million federal grant for water system improvements in the east Clayton industrial area, U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan said Thursday.

The improvements, which will increase water flow in the region, are expected to create and protect many jobs.
In Johnston County, customers of the Smithfield water system have dealt with multiple boil water advisories this summer when samples tested positive for coliform bacteria.
