ANGIER, N.C. — McGee's Crossroads Elementary School in Angier will be closed Friday for students after an overnight wreck on N.C. Highway 50 knocked out the school's main water supply, a Johnston County spokeswoman said.

Authorities said no driver was inside the Toyota SUV that ran off the road when they arrived on scene late Thursday night. The vehicle hit a box that housed the controls for the school's water supply. Charges were pending once the driver is identified, authorities said.

Utility crews for Johnston County Schools were working to fix the water supply issue early Friday. McGee's Crossroads Middle School will operate on a normal schedule Friday, officials said.
