<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — One of two lanes on a stretch of Interstate 40 westbound will be closed this weekend, N.C. Department of Transportation officials announced Tuesday. <br />

Lanes will be reduced between exit 289 (Wade Avenue) and the Wade Avenue overpass from Friday at 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday. The closure will take place weather permitting. <br />

The lane reduction is part of an ongoing project to rehabilitate a 12.9 mile stretch of Interstate 440/ Interstate 40 from exit 289 to exit 301 (Interstate 440/Interstate 40 split), officials said. The $8.5 million project is expected to be completed this month.
