Internet safety topic of workshop for students, parents

The Chapel Hill Police Department and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Safe Schools Committee will host a free discussion for students and their parents about how to keep kids safe online.

The Chapel Hill Police Department and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Safe Schools Committee will host a free discussion for students and their parents about how to keep kids safe online.

The program is 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 26, in the auditorium of Smith Middle School, 9201 Seawell School Rd.

According to a press release, industry experts and law enforcement officers will discuss best practices for how to protect yourself and your children from the dangers lurking on the internet. Topics will include cyberbullying, sexting and social media. The discussion will be suitable for children and their parents.
