Instagram user base larger than US population

The population of Instagram officially exceeds that of the United States, according to a report on the image sharing service's blog.

"The Instagram community has grown to more than 400 million strong," the post reads.

The company notes that 75 percent of Instagram users come from outside the U.S., and a look at most-followed accounts shows that diversity. Two soccer players, David Beckham from the UK and Real Madrid's Toni Kroos are on that list along with Indonesian stars Raffi and Nagita and T.O.P. of South Korea.
