RALEIGH, N.C. — A 34-year-old man who escaped from a prison in Greene County in April was captured Tuesday night in Salem, Oregon, officials from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety said.

Timothy Hardee, who was serving a sentence for resisting arrest, injury to property and providing false information to an officer, escaped from the prison on April 23.

Authorities believe Hardee broke into a home near the prison shortly after his escape to steal a truck. He was seen on surveillance shop video at a pawn shop in High Point on April 24, but authorities said it was unclear how he ended up in Oregon.

Hardee had been scheduled to be released in June.
