HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Parents of a disabled teenager have filed a lawsuit against the Orange County School System after their daughter became pregnant with a former janitor's baby.

The lawsuit names the Orange County Board of Education, a former principal at Cedar Ridge High School where the teen attended and two of her teachers. They are accused of not watching the girl while she was at school.

Arrest warrants indicate that Adam Eugene Smith, of Hillsborough, had a sexual relationship with the girl from September 2004 to March 2005.

Smith later pleaded guilty to felony sex offense. He is now registered as a sex offender in Hillsborough.
