One killed in truck crash on I-95 near Smithfield

All southbound lanes of Interstate 95 have reopened at Exit 90 in Johnston County Saturday morning after a tractor-trailer crashed overnight, killing one person and spilling thousands of gallons of orange juice on the highway, according to the state Highway Patrol.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — All southbound lanes of Interstate 95 have reopened at Exit 90 in Johnston County Saturday morning after a tractor-trailer crashed overnight, killing one person and spilling thousands of gallons of orange juice on the highway, according to the state Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the passenger, John Clark, 47, was killed and the truck driver, Harold Feill, was injured.

Feill was driving the truck when it traveled into the median and hit the gaurdrail. He has been charged with careless and reckless driving and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. According to investigators Feill feel asleep at the wheel. 

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened shortly before 4:30 a.m.
