ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Interstate 95 South will be temporarily closed Monday at the Halifax and Nash county line for roadwork, the North Carolina Department of Transportation announced Friday.

Both lanes will be shut down and traffic detoured from 12:01 a.m. until 6 a.m., when the left lane will reopen. Both lanes will reopen later in the day.

Transportation officials said the closure is needed for crews to continue a repair project on the I-95 southbound bridge over Fishing Creek. Once the work is complete Monday, crews will not resume work on the bridge until early April.

During the closure, all traffic will be detoured to Exit 154 and turn right on N.C. Highway 481, left on N.C. 4/48 and left on N.C. 33/Swift Creek School Road back to I-95 South at Exit 150.
